Will a bumper and hitch from a 76 Burb work........

on my 86 C-10? Rear bumper and a hitch that attaches to the frame. Are the frames different?

The Suburban frame is different at the frame end, it sticks out alittle farther and has a flange that the sport bumper mounts too. The PU frame is cut off straight, to make the sport bumper work you need the PU sport bumper brackets.

If the Suburban hitch is a class III style it will bolt to the side of the frame. The PU hitch should bolt to the bottom frame flange.... Hope this makes sense.

I modified a Burb hitch to build a hidden hitch for my stepside. The biggest difference I saw was that the reciever on the Burb hitch is at a different angle than a pickup. My Burb hitch bolted on, but the reciever was pointed down hill. I cut the cross tube loose from the mounting brackets and welded it back straight.

Just in case you didn't know, the rear bumber of the '76 is of a different style/profile than those off of a '81+. The '76 rear bumber will not match the lines of your '86 front bumber.
