Bear with me, I'm still learning. Brake Booster question
My Mechanic told me mine was bad so he disconnected it so I didn't burn up Valve #7. I'm taking it in next week, he said he has to send it in to get fixed and would take about a day. How do they "Go Bad" and what do they do to fix it? He said it would cost a couple hundred to fix.

I got mine from Autozone for around $80. Just change it yourself.

yep, get a re-manufactured one and turn in your old one. Don't screw around with what the mechanic tells ya. No offense to him, of course, but sometimes I wonder...

if the new booster is 100 bucks or lewss, and the mechanic said it'll be $200, that's a good income fr the mechanic. I'd imagine it shouldn't take any more than an hr.

The #7 claim might hold water. If the power brake hose was coming from the intake instead of the carb, and it was blumbed into a runner instead of general vacume, then that runner would be very lean, and with very cold air. That could posably do some damage.
However, I think he was blowin smoke up your tail pipe myself, tryin real hard to scare you into payin him way too much. Good move on not going back to him. ------------------ '69 G.M.C. 350/350.
