value of v-6 engine??
hey fellas, i am lookiing into buying a 65 3/4 ton chevy truck which has the original v-6 engine in there. i was just wondering what the value of this engine is if it was running, or if it was not running but is fixable. i will most likely be buying this truck to part out, so i was just wondering if i would even be able to sell the truck or not.
also, what does a 72 ac cab normally go for givent that i take care of all the rust problems and primer it before selling. thanks, 67pro-street Last edited by 67pro-street; 05-25-2005 at 05:21 PM. |

65 Chevy did not have a V-6. Base engine was the I-6 230, options were the I-6 292 and V-8 283. GMC had the V-6, base engine was a 305 with a 351 option.

A Chevy truck wouldn't have a V-6 in it, The V-6s were GMC only in 60-69 in the light trucks. If it's a GMC or someone put a GMC V-6 into a Chevy, the value of the engine depends on a few things; one is displacement and the other is running condition. A 305 that isn't running can be hard to give away. A 351 can be worth $4-500 if it's in good running condition and you can find a buyer. The main problem will be finding someone near you that wants it or someone who is willing to pay for shipping.

Just out of curiosity are the rear springs coils or leafs? If they are coils youv'e got
a Chevy with a transplanted engine. Leafs and it's a GMC. rwgregory

You should find an ID badge on the driver's side kick panel that should give you some
info. as to engine size, springs, gearing etc. Also, if you part out the truck could I buy the V-6 hood/fender badges??? Just askin'... rwgregory

What size engine is it? It will be stamped on the block just forward of the passenger side head.
