Question about shackles

Hi everyone, I just started a project. It's an 84 short box, and I was wondering if anyone had bought a pair of lowering shackles. If anyone has, did you have to notch the bed rail that runs right on top the shackle.
If you did, post some pics so I could get a good idea on what to do.

I had BellTech hanger/shackles on the '87 short bed I used to own. And yes, I had to cut a notch out of the bed support directly over each shackle. I used a 4-1/2" angle grinder to make the cuts. The bed was off the frame on sawhorses. Sorry, no pictures and the truck is long gone.
