72 Eaton Rear Axle ?
The truck came with a no spin rear end. Can anybody tell me if this is what I have? Here are some pics, it has 4-10 gears. Any information on this rear end would be helpful.

There is a way to fab disc brakes, basically use brackets designed for a 14BFF(less than 100), 3/4 ton 4wd front rotors(71+), calipers for same, brake hoses for a 79 chevette. of course if you want your e-brake to work you'll need 78-79 eldorado calipers or something like that.

Jim do you have that setup on yours , Jest woundering how well they work. i'm not worried about the parking brake . A cousin put a microswitch in the brake lines of his grain truck, flip a switch & push on the brake peddel to set. He said it works very well.
Thanks Paul |

Not yet but that's the plan. I've been looking at different manufacturer's caliper brackets. I already have the rotors/calipers. Just need the brackets and brake lines. Budweis put a kit from Blackbird's on his eaton axle. He likes it. What you have to watch for is the 70 and earlier axles have 1/2" studs, the 71 and newer rotors need 9/16" studs.

Is it a line-lock as used in tow trucks? That`s what I would use.Great for winching and "very" trustworthy,if your brakes work.

yes , it's a electric line lock. his locks up all 4 brakes, you need power to lock & unlock them. I'll try to get more info. this week , Paul

I'd still try to have a strong e-brake. Line locks won't stop the truck if the brake hydraulics give out. Why not both?
