Help me dial in my 88 3/4 4x4

Hey guys,
This is my first suburban and I need to dial it in. I have an 88 3/4 4x4
AT W/350. 100k runs solid. I need to know where to buy parts, what are the trick mods to do. I will be towing with it a little so my main concerns are Engine/ Interior/ Grille, lighting etc. Thanks for you advice.

towing and raising aren't usually good combinations. for vault i would sayswap out some of the OEM equipment such as distributor assembly, wire plugs and such for the higher end Accel or better. A smoother flowing TBI would help out but I'm not sure who make anything work a crap anymore outside of Edelbrock. Keeping it close to stock will allow more than enough pulling power without overdoing it.

Give it a good tune up with quality/performance parts.
flip the air cleaner top and a new filter
gap the spark plugs a little more than stock
lube everything
driving/ fog lights
a trany cooler if you dont have one

A few simple ideas for now
welcome to the sub life

Thanks guys...

Thanks a lot for the info. Do you think I need to change the dist, or just get a performance cap and rotor, better plugs, and wires, coil? How about exhaust options, I dont know if it is worth the money, I live in CA so smog rules are a pain but it is smogged untill 2008. I am just looking to get the most HP, and gas mileage I can. Thanks for the info.

I just had my 350 rebuilt. Edelbrock headers, intake, and cam. 2-1/2" pipes, no "H" (balancing) pipe. I got 11.4 mpg coming home from Mammoth after 4th of July weekend, A/C full blast the entire trip. I thought that was great (before the rebuild, I was getting 8 mpg). This board told me not to pull more than 10K#'s, but I have a th700R4 Trans. I would also agree, add a / another tranny cooler.
