Bought a '87 what do you think?
Just bought this 87 Silverado for $600 w/out the shell. It's a 305 TBI (rod knock) with a 700R-4. New brakes and exhaust. I figured this should make a pretty good project since the body is pretty straight and there is not a lot of rust. I think only the drivers door will need replaced. The rockers and floor are in perfect shape. It has the original manual, invoice, window sticker and extended warranty paperwork. Supposedly only 106k miles. Plan on putting a 350 in there in the fall and all the other goodies.
I'm going to tow it home on Saturday. here are some pics, did I get a good deal? http://www.babywooden.com/DSC03268.JPG http://www.babywooden.com/DSC03269.JPG http://www.babywooden.com/DSC03270.JPG http://www.babywooden.com/DSC03271.JPG http://www.babywooden.com/DSC03272.JPG http://www.babywooden.com/DSC03273.JPG http://www.babywooden.com/DSC03274.JPG http://www.babywooden.com/DSC03275.JPG http://www.babywooden.com/DSC03276.JPG http://www.babywooden.com/DSC03277.JPG http://www.babywooden.com/DSC03278.JPG Thanks for the input, Dave Last edited by DavezTruk; 07-28-2005 at 12:08 PM. |

Hey I was thinkin about buying a 78 gmc for 400.00-450.00 bucks I have a 74 now and it needs some body work the rust is bad. The 78 is the same style so I can use the body panels and the bed and I have a 65 I'm workin on the 74 is a daily driver but my 65 thats my baby if I get this truck I can use the axles for the 65 too and the brakes and power steering. I was think about gettin it what do u guys think. It has a 350 with th400 in it they say it only has 20k on it but I'm not sure about that needs alittle work but i think it would be good.

Wonder if it's from the same guy i bought a truck from here in Valpo. He said the rod was knocking. I towed it home, found 2 plug wires melted to exhaust pipe and heat riser hammering away. Changed 2 wires and disconnected heat riser and been driving it for around 8 months now. Hope it is something like that for you.

Thanks for the warm welcome fellas! I am so glad I found this board, the search function is great. I plan on being here for a long time lol!
BTW what is a good truck magazine to subscribe to? Hot Rod and Super Chevy just have no trucks. Phuloi68 , it's cool to run in to someone here from Valpo, hopefully you are right about the motor. Maybe we can do some cruisin next spring. |

for all you guys wishing to find a solid truck I'm thinking of passing on my new project instead of storing it while I'm away (I know, shameless plug here ) Good deal on a tbi truck tho, interior looked decent too.
