Can you test the oil gauge?
My oil gauge is pegging on the high end. At idle, it is right in the middle. Is there a way to check it? I don't want to put after market gauges in the truck. If it's bad, I want to replace it.

New engine? Sounds ok to me. Full right is 60 PSI-30 in middle. Old engine (402) went a little past center-new engine (502) goes full right. I have another gauge and it reads 60 PSI when old gauge is full right.

Engine has 8-11000 miles on rebuild. Has Hi-perf oil pump. Just trying to make sure everything is working.
Thanks

you need an 80 lb oil preesure gauge, and that would solve the pegging problem

As long as it's stock looking...
I want the inside of the truck to be either all stock, or all Autometer.... Stock is much cheaper...

No doubt...
I have 3 Autometer Phantom gauges, oil, temp and volt...but would need speedo and tach to complete the set and they are NOT cheap... I have speedwarning dash in my 71 that I may sell and set myself up with autometers.

You can get an 80psi guage from a c/40 and up truck, looks exactly like the one in your rig right now.
however, I see no point in all reality. If it pegs the guage, then you have plentyu of pressure. It's when it goes the other way that you need to worry. |
