a/c r134 question
How much freon is needed for an 86 c-10, I called an a/c shop and was told 48 ounces, a friend told me that is to much. So does anyone know the amount specified by the manufacture?

Well that is what I was told at the suppply store but as we began to check the system we released some to where it was about 2.5 lbs and we got a lower tempature. The friend who was helping me said he thought that 3 lbs was to much, perhaps a suburban w/ 2 coils, but not for a single cab truck. Does someone have the tech manual that gives the exact amount?

My 83 shop manual lists a refrigerant charge of 3 lbs - 12 oz for C-K models with a C60 system. BTW, C-K models with a overhead system take 5 lbs. - 4 oz.

This is a 134A Question, When you retrofit a R12 system to 134a you use 85% of what the system used factory, so if the system used 1LB of R12 you should use .85LB of 134A. Low side should be around 35 to 40LB to make it colder use a 134A condencer. But mine works just fine with out. Get a 18inch fan and fan clutch. Matt
