Crazy Question
My fioncee' (SP?) called me from work and said that one of her co-workers accidently added about 1/2 qt of motor oil to her Automatic transmission and wanted to know what would happen? I recommended that she have it changed and flushed but I told her I was not sure what it would do to it (if anything) She said she drove it about 15-20 miles since she did it? Will this hurt anything?
Sorry for the dumb question but I wanted to give her an answer Thanks, Jeremy

i wouldnt get all twisted about this its just a half a qt noe maybe a full qt or even 2 each but half, yes do get it out right away just for safe measure but not likely to hurt anything i would reccommend not to mention the oil thing to anyone at the shop A. for smart a$$ comments and also to keep some jerk from taking advantage of a women that doesnt know the diffrence between right and wrong on a vehicle (no disrespect intended)

I agree. I can't see a 1/2 qt of motor oil causing too much pain on a transmission. Especially considering a transmission and torque converter can hold what like 12 qts or something like that? I forget when I had my transmission done.
But yea, due to the foaming characteristics of motor oil, I would definitely have the system flushed. Not just drop the pan and drain what is in the pan, I would have the system flushed to make sure it is all out. And I also agree that someone should come along with this lady when she goes to have it done. I'm not saying a man or a woman, just someone who is knowledgable on vehicles. Shops LOVE to take advantage of ignorant people.....man or woman......and if someone comes in claiming they put motor oil in the transmission.........it is the groundwork for some advantage taking.

I see where it would do too much damage right away. I would def get it flushed though.
