ive looked at a few vendor sites but havent had any luck yet. im looking to see if i can lower my 72 3/4 ton a few inches front and rear while still keeping the heavy dutyness (new word

). its coils front and rear. anyone done this? also ive been looking for custom wheels and finding only in 16 inch. does anyone have any experience here? all 3/4 ton wheels are 16 inch (or larger)? thanks

I am by no means a pro so if I am wrong please correct me.

There isn't as much choices with rims for 8 lug compared to a five lug trucks but there are some available. I think there is some at summit if you didn't check that. Are you looking for less then a 16 or more? Go here

I haven't bought any thing from them but they have many 8 lug rims in all sizes.

As for the lowering goes I think you could use blocks in the rear (if you only want 2-3in) as for the front you can cut one coil off for a 2in drop. That should be the cheapest way to go if you only want a small drop. Or you can go with Drop spindles in the front (got mine at GMCPauls)and they keep it 3/4 ton and converts to disc brakes if you don't have them.

i saw some nice ones at summit but all were 16 inch. im thinking the 1/2 ton spindles are different. i could be wrong on that though. cutting springs is always an option but 3/4 tons are rougher riding as it is and i bet if i cut coils it would be pretty bad. the rears are also coils im not sure you can do blocks with those. i will keep looking. and just so you know 71 and up come with the disks. i do appreciate your input thanks and congrats on number 100

Im in the same boat, except I have leaf springs out back. I too have been looking for 8 lug rims that are "old school" looking. Most all 8 lug are 4x4 looking. Whats our spacing 6.50 inch?

CG. You need to check out Special 70 GMC's truck. C 20 lowered with wheels and paint. See the thread below about a repaint.

There's a TON of 8 lug wheels out there.

All the major maunfacturers are knocking them out. Find the style you like in whatever wheel manufacturer, then call them for the 8 lug part number and order through Summit.

Most are 17" or larger.

Lowering is pretty easy. I called ECE for my 2" drop springs.

Sure you can do lowering blocks in the rear on a coil spring truck. I've posted that picture of mine about a hundred times.

Also, theres a reason all the 8 lug wheels are 16 inch (or larger), look at the size of the brakes and hubs on your truck. The wheels have to be bigger just to fit over that stuff.

CG - One option is the the dropped lower A-arm from Charlies Drop Shop in Portland, OR (uses standard spindles). Another option is 3/4 Ton dropped spindles from Bell Tech(use to be available). Or lowered springs from ECE, etc.
