You won't have any peeling problems from heat in that area unless it's not prepped correctly. I've had good luck with Krylon if you want to go rattle can. If you really want durability, use an auto paint that you mix and shoot with a gun. I did mine in blue to match the body color but you can buy the blacks that you mentioned too.
