Inline fuses - The 1947 - Present Chevrolet & GMC Truck Message Board Network

On a 1970 PU, there are two inline fuses, one near the battery, and one on the other side of the radiator support near the voltage regulator. My schematic show these fuses giong into the firewall connector, but it shows no wire on the other side of the connector. Does anyone know what these fuses are for, and what size (amperage) each fuse should be?

I am not too sure, but when I replaced these two blown fuses on my truck, my amp gauge started to work again.

Well, I know that they are 4 amp fuses, but that's all I can remember. (got CRS disease) LOL

Thanks guys. I'll stick some 4 amp fuses in 'em, and check and see if the ammeter works before and after.

if anyone else can tell me where these two wires end up, I'd appreciate it

Yes, they are for the amp guage.

Just to confirm,yes...two 4 amp fuses,both for the voltmeter gauge.

Thanks for the info and the welcome, Tim and Buck. I guess I'll need to hook those back up. The one close to the battery has the wire broken at the fuse holder, so I'll need to replace that. I don't think the ammeter has ever worked quite right!

I fried the Fus Link on my 72, replaced it with a inline fuse. Now I have nothing but electrical problems, the inline fuse pops when different electrial items are used. The fan switch, head lights on turn signals used,etc. I have used 10amp - 20 amp fuses.

I have not been able to find a Fus Link replacement.

Looking for an answer.

I eliminated mine altogether and tied the wires together. Been like that for a couple years.

Have you tried slo-blo fuses? the fusable link would be more like a slow blow fuse, I would think. I'm not sure what the current rating of it is though. maybe someone on the forum might know. removing it altogether could cause a fire if something should short out.

Also, I noticed last night that o'Reillys carries universal replacement fusable links.
