i have 6.5's in my doors.. however they are very low down and the sound does not carry very well... It sounds ok, but eventually i plan on re-doing my interior and will end up moving them either up higher or perhaps down in the kick pannels..
Let us know where you end up putting them and how it sounds. ![]() |

They have a kick panel kit that replaces originals and aims the speaker up. They also have a bar type thing that goes above youre head to the back of cab that conceals four speakers to the headliner.

Ya, I saw that headliner too, you can also install a radio or cd player in it also, keeps from hacking the dash.

I put my 6x9s in the doors down below... they sound great. I think the sound carries just fine. I'm also buying another set to put in boxes in the cab corners next to the seat, aimed outward, to get a better surround effect.
BTW... these are TS6970R 3-way 6x9s... they are the top 3-ways (a better midrange than the 6960s) sound fabulous... so good in fact that I'm getting another set when funds allow.

Lmc: Highliner with built in speakers. These can be painted to match!
Part # Prices Has four 4" spaces built in and include speakers..38-2044-bl.....299.95 w/factory spk same as above..............................................38-2045-bl.....299.95w/o factory spk Kick panel set 6.5 in speaker incl 38-8508 159.95 I know the headliner is not 6.5 inches, and it sucks that these come with own speakers. I didn't find anything in chevyduty. I think JC whitney has something like this. If you are any good with fiberglass, I have seen some pretty neat ideas at some car shows. |

My dad got two pieces of one by boards, about seven inches wide, and a foot long. He made holes in them for 6/9's. He put them behind the seat, where the factory speakers were in the corners. It sounded pretty good, but it was not airtight. Then he got some of that expanding foam, for like weather proofing your house. He sprayed it behind the board, top and bottom. It expanded, sealing the speakers in the corners. It sounds really great!! His looks kind of funny, but you could paint the wood, or maybe put a thin layer of cute metal over it. just my 2 cents
