Replacing body panels
I have an 83 chevy truck and I was looking at buying the 5pc rocker/cab repair panel kit from JC Whitney. In the description it said that you can weld, rivet or bolt these on. Can you really bolt everything on because I am not a welder. The drivers side is the worst. I need to replace the rocker, cab corner, floor pan and cab supports on the drives side. The passengers side I just need to replace the rocker, cab corner, and I am not sure about the cab supports. The floor is great shape on the passengers side. Are the kits from JC whitney any good? I am open to any and all suggestions.

you can bolt em on BUT... it wont look good and worse it will allow water to get behind the metal and rust really quickly welding is the best method to replace body panels for a good look and also to keep rust from reappearing anytime soon

I agree with Doc, for the best results I recommend welding them in. I have heard of people gluing them on, but haven't ever done that.
BTW, I have the 5 piece cab kits that JCWhitney sells only about $10 less. http://www.73-87chevytrucks.com/merc...tegory_Code=C1

Cool, I will probably order them from you. What would shipping cost to Johnstown, OH 43031? Do you have your own store?
What exactly does the floor panel consist of? Is it the whole side? |

I'd probably be intested in a set before too long. any idea what shipping would be to 05873. and like said above how big of floor section is it. In the JC Whitney Kit I think its something like 13 inches wide. Thanks for the info.

the new "wave" in installing body panels is to use a special adhesive....i know it sounds crazy, but alot of body shops have started using this method

floorpan
you can get the 1/2 pan section that comes with the 5 pc kit and goes from the door over to the support that run's length wise on cab,or you can buy a full floor section that goes from hump to door seperately..

The floor sections in my 5 piece kits are 24"W X 33"H. They go from about the front firewall to the seat hump and from the weatherstrip to the trans hump.
They look like this: ![]() Sent PM's to those requesting pricing.

How thick is the metal for the floor pan? It looks thin in the picture.
