Dark grey interior
So I have this '87 LWB Silverado I am scavenging the engine/tranny from and a few other bits and peices.
It has a dark grey interior that I thought was black until I actually got it home (sorry bigarmz!). I know people are hot on the black stuff but is a dark grey interior worth anything? I had never seen a dark grey, only a light grey. It is complete except door panels and headliner (the headliner is there but it droops). I like it and think I should put it in a box in the loft but if its worth something I should just get rid of it seeing as the only truck I own has a really nice interior and no AC. Did they ever put leather seats in this vintage truck? It has a dark grey bench seat that is in decent driver shape with a few cracks but it doesn't feel like the vinyl I've had before. I thought I would be able to tell the difference between vinyl and leather but I'm not so sure. Any input would be great.

It is worth something of course, but the only reason black it worth more is because more people want black. Around here, a seatbelt is a seatbelt, same price regardless of color. A friends '87 got stolen and they cut his black seatbelts to tie the stolen goods down. He recovered it and found belts for it for $50 and they were black, they had 2 sets.
Leather was never used on 73-87's.

I believe it's referred to as "charcoal". I have it in my 87. I love the color.

C&C, you don't have any interior pics in you link but I remember seeing your truck posted before and it is very clean. I was working on a truck a lot like yours about 3 weeks ago. '87 Silverado swb with 350, auto, red, red interior. He was asking $2500 but after looking it over and pointing out all the things wrong with it I had the guy willing to sell it to me for $750. A one day delay in a guy paypaling me some money for a mt. bike frame I sold him and some other guy walks in and offers him $1700. ![]()

I think my interior is charcoal as well. I was originally going to do it in black, because i had the black seat belts, but decided the black seatbelts would be a great compliment anyways... am thinking about trying to find grey belts for my truck and cashing out on the black...

I would consider yours to be grey. The interior of the '87 is so dark its almost black. Like I said, I didn't realize it wasn't black until I got home.
Of course I have no idea what they did in '75 so maybe yours would be considered charcoal for that year? Quote:

At one time, Naugatuck, KY was the leading supplier of naugies.
