Are these factory tow hooks? - The 1947 - Present Chevrolet & GMC Truck Message Board Network

I found these on the front of a 1974 GMC Jimmy. I know these are not the early style, but I don't know what the factory tow hooks looked like in 1974. I guess I don't even know if that was an option in 1974.

nope, those came off something else or are aftermarket hooks. The correct hooks look like a big J, with two 3/4 inch bolt holes. The mounting surface on factory hooks that goes against the frame rail is square with two 3/4" bolt holes. Also the end of the hook is round, not pointed.

yup that is the same as the ones on our 87 blazer

actually '81-'87 trucks and '81-'91 Blazers and suburbans had different ones than that. I don't have a picture available of one of those yet.
