What's the deal with sport bumpers?
Well I ve been looking and just can't seem to find one. The sport style rear bumper for our trucks. I know the subs and blazers are the same, but it's my understanding the brackets are not the same. So how are the different? Can they be made to fit? Is anybody making the brackets?? I cannot imagine there's alot involved could be a good market for someone with some welding skills.
How about some help here, seems to be a few of us that would like this style bumper on our rigs. Any pics of the brackets so we can fab up a set??? bob I'm down to the point of maybe getting a tube bumper for the rear.

Re: What's the deal with sport bumpers?
well, i have been recently trying to make the blazer style brackets work....
they wont been there, very much tried that......gotta find the truck style brackets...and on that note....good luck the bumper will work...just not the brackets, and the license plate "thingy" works on both as well Quote:

Re: What's the deal with sport bumpers?
What bigarmzz said.
The bumper brackets on a Burb and Blazer are not the same as a truck. Here's what I had planned to do before I found a complete rear sport bumper setup. Buy new bumper brackets from 73-87chevytrucks.com for $109.95 Buy new gravel shields from the local GM store for $25.00 Buy a used bumper and license plate panel from the junkyard Last edited by 84 PUMPKIN; 10-27-2005 at 05:42 PM. |

Re: What's the deal with sport bumpers?
Bumpers are the same, but brackets are NOT the same. (short of the outside brackets.)

Re: What's the deal with sport bumpers?
My bumper came off a sub, the outside brackets fit perfectly from the sub. I could have made the inside brackets work easy enough too but I dont use the bumper for anything special. BTW it's never been loose with the 4 bolts and has held a 35 MPH toyota impact.

Re: What's the deal with sport bumpers?
I went to a yard to get a rear bumper man-o-man. I spent 4 hrs working on a sub and came home empty handed. I wish I had a gas axe.
Beater they should fit. I sent you a PM. I'm interested. And now I know the outsides will fit. I should be good to go. Sweet. thanks all bob

Re: What's the deal with sport bumpers?
N2TRUX, sweet setup. Nice and symetrical(sp).
Well those brackets are a little more complicated then I thought. Whose hitch is that? bob

Re: What's the deal with sport bumpers?
I am under the impression that Stepside bumpers are shorter and the brackets are different also.

Re: What's the deal with sport bumpers?
these bumpers are a pita but i have one also i havent tried to instal it yet because im not ready to but the brackets on it know are to long and they bolt up right where the rear leaf spring hangers are at my first thought is to just mount the center brackets and let the outsides of the bumper just bounce a little but am planning to due some fabricating with some other step-bumper brackets and see if i cant get it to be a little more solid.
