Need some help...usual suspects please.
Just got back from a month in wyoming (oil rig work).
Does anybody know if some company out there makes a pan gasket for a th350 that uses a metal base with rubber beads on the sealing surfaces and has collars so you cannot over torque the bolts. Kinda like fel pro's answer for the old style sbc valve covers and or there trick one piece oil pan gasket for older sbc's???? Got the 79 torn down in the garage doing major overhaul work and i'd like to solve this time old problem. Next up is who makes a disc/disc master to fit a 84 up booster and the disc/disc prop valve when you convert to rear disc on a 12b? Tryin to get the o/haul done and a few mods while she's down as i have to get her done for oil field duty this winter. The chalet is a little squirrely in those wyoming winds... bigblock,captcaos...??? Doug W.

Doug,
Master Power Brakes sells any kind of master you would need. They also sell combination valves, boosters, and anything else you would need. I have their disc/disc master, combination valve and booster. http://www.mpbrakes.com/ As for the TH350 pan gasket, I've never seen one before but that don't mean someone doesn't make them.

Oh, forgot to give the part numbers for the master and combination valve I used which works with a 84 booster.

Re: Need some help...usual suspects please.
Both Fel-Pro and Moroso make these types of gaskets...but not sure if they make them for tranny pans.
With the tranny pans having so many bolts, I doubt you can screw up installing a regular gasket and having a leak...if you can't find the gaskets in question...just go with a regular one and don't worry about it.

Re: Need some help...usual suspects please.
Like jeff said id'e just use the gasket that comes with the tran's filter kit also id'e only ues ACDelco.
I replace my tranny filter and oil every 15k miles and i allways use the ACDelco trans filter kit and i NEVER ues RTV sealant you don't need it if you troque the bolts to Mfg. spce's. and you will never damage the gasket either. I have never had any tranny pan leaks from any of my trucks using this method. |

Re: Need some help...usual suspects please.
Thanx guys! No luck on the gasket as Fel-Pro only mnakes a pro series gasket for the powerglide so far so i ordered a rubberized-fiber gasket they make.
Plus you can order some cool stuff at autozone so i ordered a AGR power steering pump to go with the crossover steering i'm installing today. Hope to be home long enough to get all the major work done on the 79. I realize she is a 4by but once she is done i'll be dragging the 79 2wd K5 into the garage to start stripping it down for a frame off build-a-thon. The 79 currently has to get me all over the place (wyoming-montana-utah) etc for this oil field work. She used to be my daily driver and full time trail truck for years but the list of minor details became big problems so she got parked a few years ago. So now i'm trying to cross things off the list and get r done as they say. This afternoon i'm tearing the front 10 bolt apart for a complete make over of sorts...ARB locker-xover steering-custom springs-ford shock mounts...etc...guess i need to learn how to post pics....lol Doug W.

Re: Need some help...usual suspects please.
Jeff...PM me your number and i'll call you later on this week.
Got yard work tomorrow then a quick trip to offroad design in glenwood springs to pick up my custom drag link and tie rods for the xover steering. And then i have a few other repairs to be made to the chalet before its time to head out to wyoming again. I really do need to learn how to do this as after all the damn years i've been on the net i still have no clue...lol. Doug W.
