Hello from Tucson
Hello everyone,
Just purchased a 1971 GMC C20 longbed and googled for some restoration tips and found this site. What a wealth of information located here. The truck I bought has a 454 ci that is knocking bad (spun bearing). Four speed on the floor. Interior is rough and the body has light surface rust. Front disc brakes. No deep rust anywhere, it is an Arizona truck. I'm the third owner. Paid $500 - I think I got a smoking deal. Now comes the fun. I will probably be posting (and reading) quite a bit here as this will be my first-ever tear down and build up. I would like to dump the four-speed and put in an automatic and take out the 454 and go with a built 350. Anyway, hope to correspond quite and bit and thanks everyone for all the posts. Mike |

Re: Hello from Tucson
Thanks for the welcome everyone. When I get a digital camera I will post some picks. I'm reading all I can before getting started on the restore. Actually kind of nervous about doing this.
ureckme - how can I get in touch with the Arizona guys, or the Tucson guys on this site to pick some brains and/or check out some rides? Happy Thanksgiving to all. Mike |
