Diagnose this one......

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Hey all, i need a little help figuring this one out.My 71 w/ 350 700r4 and edelbrock performer intake/carb,recently developed a problem. It appears to have a small miss and rattle. started smoking out both sides.( a white smoke w/ no obvious odor.) When you idle it up, it smoothes out, and sometimes quits smoking completely. The motor has 2000 max on the rebuild, and did fine til now.....I pulled the covers, rocker arms and push rods ok. All valves appear to open and close normally.........any help?

no, the oil looks brand new. I also just tested the coolant, and it was full,no bubbling on warm up.......i am kinda leaning towards possible atf for the smoke.

Re: Help with smoking

does the 700r4 have the modulator mounted on the side like a th350? Ive seen them suck a tranny dry thru the diaphragm....Been awhile since ive looked at a 700r4.

Re: Help with smoking

No mod valve on the overdrives
You may have a leak on the intake gasket and gettin some coolant into the cylinders.
