Gas mig wire?
What size mig wire should I use for doing my cab corners, rockers, and floor pans? Also, how much will I need? I'll be using gas, not flux cored. Thanks!

Re: Gas mig wire?
I started out with the .23 but couldn't hardly see the wire so I switched to the .30 and was alot better for me.Of course I am blind in 1 eye and can't see out the other 1 I think it is all a personal preferance

Re: Gas mig wire?
You might rather use .023 easy grind wire. .23 wire is almost 1/4 inch thick.....Z

Re: Gas mig wire?
I would go . 023-.025 on the wire on the tin.....I run .035 on the 200 amp lincoln, & while it can be turned down to do the tin, the old sp100 does a decent job on the lite stuff. Best of luck..... L

Re: Gas mig wire?
Thanks for the help guys! Since I'm new at welding, I'll try somewhere in the .023-.025 range, as the less grinding after the better.

Re: Gas mig wire?
I use the .023 from home depot in a 2lb roll in my little Lincoln. The .030 works good too, the .023 is just a little better for sheet metal.

Re: Gas mig wire?
Glad I read this. I just picked up some .035 and it's burnin holes at the lowest juice setting. I've been using .030 before this spool. Now I'll have to try .025. Thanks guys.
