Today I purchased a set of motor mounts for my 84swb. When I got home I tried to align one up with the bracket that attaches to the underside of the block. It would not slide in the way the old one slid out. It looks as though I will have to pry the bracket open just a tad bit further for it to fit. I was wandering if this would be alright or not. The set I bought were manufactured by Pioneer. I did research online and they are the correct part# 602292 for my year model truck. So what do you guys think?

How much interference do you have? I have had mounts that are snug, but I have never had to tweak the block mounted clamshells. Is the engine still in the truck? I have only replaced mounts as part of an engine swap and I use the weight of the engine to get the mounts seated.

I would think that much tweaking of the clamshells would make installing the cross bolt real difficult from the holes being mis-aligned.

No the old engine and clamshells are on a stand. I have yet to install them on the new engine. I was just curious as to how they would fit. Maybe they are just too snug to install without the force of the motor connecting them. The old set goes on with any interference while the engine is on the stand I can reinstall the bolt. The bolt holes on the new mount look to be a little bit longer, and I don't want to ruin the new mounts if they are possibly defective. I'll just return to Oreilly for another set.

I don't remember any details, but I used Pioneer mounts from O'Reilly on my '86 with no problems.

Just take the new mount and knock a little off the end of the through bolt sleeve on a bench grinder. Often the new mounts are kind of sloppy built.

Thanks Tx I took them back to Oreillys and the parts man just used his pocket knife and matched up the rubber end that was too long with the rubber in that was the correct length. I could have did that, but Oreilly is just around the corner and the mounts carry lifetime warranty. Problem solve thanks again.
