who has a camaro/nova front end?
I've got a 52 Chevy half ton I bought and haven't even picked up yet. After looking at this months "ol skool rodz" I want to rat rod it like the truck in there. I have most of the stuff to do it with already but the front clip.
questions are. 1 where do you mount the master cylinder after this set up is done. 2. Which front clip do I want? The front steer box(later years) one or the rear(early ones)? 3. What steering column do I use? This thing will be painted a flat color, red wheels and white walls. I want this to be a winter project I can get done quick and be driving in may. |

Re: who has a camaro/nova front end?
Well when i did my 47 International kb-1 I used a 70 nova clip which is rear steer mounted the master cylinder on the firewall and cut down a plain floor shift column from a 68-72 truck to kind of give the ol'skool look. Only reason i went w/ the early clip is I liked the narrower front part of the frame, but it all depends on what id accessable for you to find. or if ya dont want to cut the frame look for 4x4 s-10/15, the reason i say this style frame in cuz there is crossmember, more os less str8 rail on it, remove the front rear setup it has torsion bars which can be adjusted to lower the front down. it mite sound like a big job but its not, e-mail me and i can show pics of the international i used an s-10 bed i cut the sides off of and made my own sides for it

Re: who has a camaro/nova front end?
I'd suggest you mount the master cylinder on the firewall. Alot easier for access. Regarding the clip, go with the '70-'81 with the steering box in the front. The '67-'69's box and shaft may interfer with your exhaust system.
Here's a pics of my daughter's '51 Burb we clipped with an '80 Camaro. Last edited by Seon; 12-26-2005 at 08:14 PM. |

Re: who has a camaro/nova front end?
no problem Erick alot of others have done this swap i was looking into the idea years back when i had a 53 1/2 ton only thing you need to look atis the location of the motormounts in comparision to the engine being at the desired distance from the firewall thats why i would prefer the 4x chassis over the 2x its alot easier putting mounts in. Dave i have to resend the pics one at a time the e-mail kicked backed on me. I will send them again in the morning
