is it worth it or should i wait it out
ok i have covinced my fiance to let me buy a truck. I am looking for a 85 -87 c10. I have found one in pensacola which is about 3.5 hours from New Orleans where i am. They are asking 4995 for an 86 c10. It is at a new car dealership's used car lot. I said the most i would pay is 2000. The said they could work with me but he is a car salesman. he said he will email me more pics tommorrow. Is it worth it to pay extra for a car 3.5 hours away or should i stick it out and wait for one to pop up in my area. i have looked at about four of them in my area and have not found anything worth buying.

I'd be very suspicious if they didn't laugh in your face when you offered less than half their asking price...
Second, I'd also avoid buying any vehicles from your area. Who knows how many may have been drowned in the hurricane. My two cents

Re: is it worth it or should i wait it out
I see its your first post . Welcome to the board . I think you will like it here . There is a 87 in Florida that I would look at if I were closer . I dont know where at in florida but heres the link . If you can get an 87 , you will have a more efficient truck because of the fuel injection . Just my opinion . Frank

I agree with the others DO NOT BUY ANYTHING FORM YOUR AREA!
That '87 looks like a nice truck and it's only a grand more than you wanted to spend i think id look at it over the other one. And it's gonna have alot more options cuz it's a choo choo custom. Just to let you know choo choo custom was a factory authorized customizer that was located in central Florida in the 80's. They installed custom interiors and custom paint graphics and other things. Plus it's got the 5.7L TBI fuel injected engine this is the truck to buy and it's a GOOD PRICE! Good luck. |

It a short bed at that! That's a good deal. I would definitely pay close attention to underside of any vehicles for sale around the coastline as well. The underside and is just as important as the outside. Little or no rust is a must.

WELCOME to the forum Chris Bassil
You should be looking out of your area, but I would be careful about looking in Florida as well. Considering the amount of storms that have been through there recently as well as they are close to the coast in almost any part of the state. Take a look in Texas, there are a gazillion trucks over her that are rust free and the prices are decent. Check www.traderonline.com as well.

Re: is it worth it or should i wait it out
our truck are everywhere and cover all price ranges, it should'nt be to hard to find a better deal. i would not buy from a dealer because you know they are selling it for more than they got it for and probably more than its worth.

Re: is it worth it or should i wait it out
well man i live up here in Ne and i bought my truck from a guy down in texas off ebay and drove it home. yes it had some small blemishes that could not be seen in the pics but the guy was honnest and i got a good deal on it so i was okay with it. Post some pics if you can and see it for your self. just got to see it drive it have a second opionion on it and then your set. Here is the thing.... thease trucks are 20+ years old and because of that they are gettong hardER to find but there are still alot on the road. That said you can find good deals on alot of them . plus some will have crate motors and some will have new and or preformance parts on them. By the way what are you loooking for man ??? short bed long bed?? stepside? auto ? manual ? fuel injected? one that needs alittle work or a show truck that is perfect? just somethings that can help you make up your mind. and if you don't find what you want then wait or look some were else. unless of course you just can't passs it up!!!!!!
