Weekend Progress Anyone?
I don't get to post under one of these that often, and I didn't see one started..... so here goes.
I went to advance and picked up a few things for the '67. They actually had a voltage regulator for my truck on the shelf AND AND AND they had two parts people who knew what they were even talking about. The one guy told me I could go to GM and still get the parts to rebuild mine (I just took the new one.) I also changed my thermostat from 195 to 180. Cleaned up my tailight buckets for paint.... little things I needed to decide to continue my quest for a new 5 lug rear end (that hasn't been going well) or replace my new 5 lug spindles with ECE 6 lugs. Pulled the cover on the rear end. Clean as a whistle and no signs of wear..... Cleaned up and painted the cover and bolts and put 'er all back together with a new seal and gear oil. Two days and she didn't drip I must have done something wrong Guess I'm going with the 6 lug rotors. Anyone else?

Re: Weekend Progress Anyone?
Continued on the body work on the truck. I just have the cab top and right door to put in primer. Then, the fun part starts, "Block Sanding".....
Still hoping to get this in paint by "Spring".......

Re: Weekend Progress Anyone?
In a quest to get my headlights to work, I dissasembled, cleaned, regreased and reassembeled my headlight switch. Worked like new. Still no lights. Traced my problem to my dimmer switch burried in cow manure on the floor. When I pulled the wires, the switch body (pot metal) crumbled, so I made a short jumper wire, and presto I have lights.

Re: Weekend Progress Anyone?
Picked up my brackets and headers from the powder coaters , ceramic coat for the headers . Nothing like new powder coat Bought a good running 454 with 61k orig , never apart , complete fan to flywheel , can't have enough big blocks laying around . Pulled the valve covers and rolled over to tdc on the 396 , getting ready to change out intake and distributor , if it ever warms up here . Not too much done , but it's a start .

Re: Weekend Progress Anyone?
Took the trash to the dump, on the way home noticed the truck filling like it was slowing down on its own, just before pulling into the driveway I put it into nuetral to let it coast and she came to a stop on her own, Parked it, jacked it up, removed the tires then the brake calipers and told my wife I was headed to advance and she told me that I should take a cot and sleep up there. She also needed the belts replaced on her car so I did that, what a PITA, Next day went and got my calipers replaced them and today I preassure washed 34 years of grease and dirt off from under the truck. Also took the kids to the circuss on saturday and was still told I wasn't spending enough time with the family.

Re: Weekend Progress Anyone?
I finished up enlarging the holes for the lower control arm u-bolts (new bolts are bigger!), then I cleaned up the brake dust shields, then got help from a friend and put the shafts in all the control arms. A few more pieces and the front end is going back together!

Went to Waco Autorama yesterday with my 2 sons. They really enjoyed the show. My youngest favorite was the motorcycle from American Chopper that they built for that skinny chick from Eddy Tx. Finally enjoyed the rain. It has been a long time since we have had any.

You know if you are serious about 5-lug you can order a set of axles from summit for like $200. I put 5-lug curries in a 68 3:73 posi and I love em. It is cheaper or at least close to the same $$$ and you'll then have the more common 5 on 5 rather than the 6-lug. Either way, it is up to you, I just wanted to offer my help in our quest!! I just drove my new K5 home and cleaned out the garage as well as putting the 20's on my 454SS truck. I worked all day and watched my Steelers get into the Super Bowl, so the rest was just icing on the cake!! |

Re: Weekend Progress Anyone?
Saturday I worked as usuall.
Sunday I took half my truck apart to hook up the washer bottle I got from Billsbowtie. It took me twice as long to get every thing off and back on then fixing the washer lines. It only sprays half the time so I may need a new pump. Painted the speedo and Gas gauge needle since they were out. Now the gas guage is stuck at half full. Also tried aliging the hood but ended up just about back where I started since it wanted to hit the cowl instead of shut right. Also put the shift indicator also form billsbowtie on so I know where I going. So I think I broke as much as I fixed.

Re: Weekend Progress Anyone?
Finished rebuilding and adjusting the Rochester 2GV.
Took the Blazer to Firestone and had a set of 32x11.50R15 Goodyear MT/Rs installed. Swapped clogged 2-row radiator for 4-row, zip-tied into place while I await brackets from LMC. Drove the Blazer more than 100 miles. That's 5x as far as I have ever driven it. I *almost* trust it.
