If you plan on using any type of filler to patch holes they will need to be dimpled in first. Just filling over them will result in the fill cracking out. If you are actually painting the vehicle and care that it lasts.....weld em up.

I saw a friend use it on a cracked Saturn transmission about 5 years ago. Still leak free.
Does anyone know how heat resistant it is? When I bought my replacement ramhorn manifold it had the air injector holes in it. I used a plug with loctite to seal up the hole, then in a flash of inspiration put JB Weld on top of the plugs to fill in. Looks good, now just will it stay? |

When my 89 Suburban was one month old, the power steering cooler (yes, it was part of the towing package) line bounced against the frame rail and wore a hole in it. I took off this 3/8" steel tubing, cleaned it up nice, JB Weld. Made a tube clamp that GM forgot to stop the vibration. Still no leaks! What is this line, about 500 psi?

don't believe this has been mentioned; but the fill area should be dimpled as stated above and the surface scratched with a course file or sandpaper for better adhesion. Also, make sure the area is squeaky clean; use acetone or lacquer thinner.

Here are some things I've used JB Weld on...
1. The original 2 bbl. carb. to renew the accelerator pump shaft hole that was wallowed out from many years of use, just fill and drill. 2. Filled a pitted Toyota oil pan that had pin holes and was leaking. 3. Repaired a cracked aluminum transmission case. 4. Temp. repaired a plastic Firebird radiator (started leaking within a few weeks due to different expansion rates of plastic vs. JB). 5. Filled a hole in a cast iron differential housing. 6. Filled a pin hole in a gas tank. 7. Repaired a cracked chainsaw crankcase. 8. Attempted a repair on a leaking exhaust Y pipe, the JB burned off within an hour and made a hell of a stink. It has been my experience that it will not stick well to plastics. I believe it will withstand temps up to 250-300 F. Good stuff!

My cousin claims to haveused J.B. Weld to hold a rear wheel on a fwd car. Apparently all of the studs had broken off, and he was REAl lazy. I'm not sure I would trust the stuff quite that much, but it did a nice job hold the valve cover on the Cylinder head in a buick for me after I broke one of the bolt holes out.

regular jb wed will not hold up to the heat of an exuast manifold i tried it on a header flange once it didn't last 10 minutesit was the only time i ever seen it fail it would be nice to know the max heat it can hold up to if anyone knows

The temps are listed on the JB Weld web site :- constant temp. 500 degrees F. ; max 600 degrees for short term ( 10 min).

My truck is not back on the road yet, but it has been up to operating temps several times (you know driving around the yard, pretending it's finished LOL). The JB is still hanging on the manifold. Several people told me to expect it to fall off, so I won't be too surprised when it does.

i realy dont know , used it once on a cylinder wall where rist pin gave way ( did a good job ) ran compression test one it a few years later before i sold it and it was close the other compresions . dont think it will work on small holes in doors though , you should scrap the doors for new ones and give me your old ones
