New Seats ! What am I in for?
I ordered front seats for my 69'. They are out of a 2004 Chevy truck. Dark gray cloth with the "flip-up" seat in the middle and built in seat belts. What kind of trouble will I have mounting them? For those that have installed: Did you put the seats all the way back on the sliders and then up against the back of the cab and drill/bolt/set? Any spacers required?
I'm pumped about getting them ! Full power and lumbar....I do plan on having to move the column up a little to make "belly room". Also, I'll be putting some large 1/4" plates below the floor to bolt through for support in case of accident. Just wondering how you set them up before you drilled the holes. Thanks for the help.... |

Re: New Seats ! What am I in for?
using the brackets that come with the seat will put you up a little higher than stock bench. Moving the column forward is a good idea. I have a 14 3/4 diameter wheel. Its not bad, but I also plan the column mod. I had to put about a 3/8 to 1/2 inch spacer under the center rear legs. Keep in mind I mounted the seats only with out a center section. I also have the power option, but will have no need to wire it up. The seat is tilted to allow me to set the seat back as far as possible. Was fairly easy to install. Have fun

Re: New Seats ! What am I in for?
You will find that you have to set the tracks a little forward so they will match up with the center seat as that seat uses the inside bolts on the seats. Also if you set the tracks all the way back you set up to straight and this is assuming that you still have the tank in cab as I do. If I remember right I only had to shim the inner front of the seats. You can't put to much reinforcement on the bottom of the cab,I used heavy backer plates under mine. Moving the column in is a good idea,a little bit makes a big difference. All in all a easy install and makes a world of difference in comfort.

70ChevyFreak: Thanks for the mounting info. I wasn't sure where to set the seat on the track before placing in the truck to mark the holes.
