1969 chevy....
There has been a 69 Chevy 3/4T 4x4 in the classifieds on and off for about a year. Has a 350/4-speed, plow, and 48,000 orig. miles (doubtful)
So my questions are: 1. Would it most likely have a NP 205 t-case? 2. Would it most likely have a SM465 tranny? 3. Will it have a closed knuckle front-end? 4. Will the driveshafts interchange between a 68 and 69 truck? 5. Are the splines for a NP205 and Rockwell 221 the same? Thanks for the feedback. Last edited by JAKES 68GMC; 03-07-2006 at 09:39 PM. |

Re: 1969 chevy....
I may be wrong, but wasn't 70 the first year of the closed knuckle front axle (or do I have that backwards again)?
also....IIRC the t-case would be a d20.....but the driveshafts should swap no problems.

Re: 1969 chevy....
Backwards, 70 was first year for open knuckle. 67-69 were closed. I thought NP205's were availible on 69 and later trucks??? Should just call about it and ask a buttload of questions, and maybe go look at it.

Re: 1969 chevy....
You should have an NP205. Dana xfer cases were in Blazers only IIRC

Re: 1969 chevy....
Wouldn't hurt to look at the 69 and ID the xfer case. In general rockwells were used. That does not preclude the possibility that an np205 made it's way into a 69. GM was notorious for late year model changes

Re: 1969 chevy....
CPNE, that's odd, I bought my running gear from under a 70 blazer-- 4 speed with D20, I've heard before that the D20 was only on 3 speed ?? Is mine an oddball? Serious question, I'm confused
