What did you get done, April fools edition

Ken is out of town at a volleyball tournament, and asked me if I could start this for him.

What did everyone get done this weekend?

I worked all day Saturday, and today (Sunday) I managed to actually back track on Yeller. Today I removed the 12 bolt, leaf springs, and drop hangers. In the coming week(s) I will be changing out the worn out clutch packs, installing the flip kit, c-section, Cal-trac tracion bars, and completely rebuilding the rear brakes.

Re: What did you get done, April fools edition

Well, I actually did something truck related. I installed MY Caltracs yesterday. That's it though.

Jeff,

I didn't think you were going to use a flip kit, much less a c-notch. What made you change your mind?

Re: What did you get done, April fools edition

Thanks for starting this for me Jeff. I managed to find a computer at the hotel I am staying at and sneak in a post. The only thing I did truck related was talk to Roger at Stoked out about shipping some motor parts to me so I can add some finishing touches to my Ramjet project.

My BIG news for the week is about volleyball. My daughter team went to Atlanta to play volleyball in a Junior Olympic qualifier. There were 84 teams in her division, and her team placed second. This qualified her team to play in the Junior Olympics in in June. Only 84 teams in the country will qualify to play in her division.

We are very pleased with the results...

Re: What did you get done, April fools edition

I sold my truck for $800. Some guy offered me straight cash at the pump so I went for it, since I figure it's not even worth that.

April Fools. Hardy har I crack myself up

Saturday I quit my job after being forced to stay until 1:30 in the morning for the who-knows how many-ith time. So I spent the day washing and waxing my truck, dang it looks good. I'll have pics tomorrow evening.

Re: What did you get done, April fools edition

I was on call but still pressure washed the front frame section on my 68 & degreased some misc parts. Today was spent cleaning up the backyard & then some garage time playing w/pulleys & accessories for the 350.

Tomorrow is a half day @ work & then opening day @ The Ballpark: Rangers vs. Boston. Should be a nice day too....

I've been trying to organize all that boring stuff that comes with buying a house, we close on it the 28th.

Also got a little work done on my cab tilt/ rolly around thingy (we need a better name for this thing...)

Gave my dad his retirement gift, Diehard battery charger. Now I can charge my battery, put my license plate on and start driving my truck again.

Re: What did you get done, April fools edition

I sanblasted and painted my gas tank straps and inner fenderwells, but kinda lost interest after that so I moved to the camaro, washed it up since saturday was perfect and took it out for a drive, ended up going to Pittsburgh and picking up a fender for my 41 plymouth at an classic resto shop in Cranberry pa, turns out this guy has anything to build these cars and all I did was smile as he took me through building after building hidden in the woods on his property, he has about 12 37-42 plymouths. A really nice guy, but in his lower garage by his lake, that's right...I said lake is a 1975 swb with a 454 that he bought new and has 32,400 miles on it. He said he uses it to move cars when he buys or stripps one. Jealousy is a terrible thing!

I got my 3/4 ton springs in. Just need to drive it a bit to make sure they settle where they want to be and then take some measurements to see how much higher the front sits.

Re: What did you get done, April fools edition

I sold my Lincoln Saturday morning, and headed down to Austin for the Hot rod and Kustom car show. I missed the show, but cruised around in a friend's 61 Caddy 'vert, and most of the cars from the show were out on Congress Ave. anyhow. We ate a ton of crawfish, and caught the burlesuqe show at the Continental club. It was absolutely outstanding. Sunday morning, I picked up my new ride, a 99 Lexus LS400. It is awesome, much better than the STS I had a couple of years ago. Got home Sunday afternoon, and washed the Lexus and my girlfriends car, ate pasta and watched the Sopranos. A very full, but great weekend for me.

Re: What did you get done, April fools edition

Only truck stuff I got done was getting the headliner and all the interior trim at a salvage yard.

I had a bigger project to do. I had to put up a new house for "Slowie" The Tortoise that lives in our back yard. He had been living in a hole he dug in the ground but, he'd dug out past the fence. it was just a matter of time before he figured that out.

I found a "Dogloo" a big plastic dog house for $8 at the "Re-Use" store at the land fill last weekend.

I set it up for Slowie Saturday, had to filll the spot under it and landscape around (to get the wife to go along with it). He seems happy with it, it didn't turn out to bad.

Yeah he is no Chevy truck but, he is neat to have around.

Re: What did you get done, April fools edition

i did nothing 73-87 related, but it was truck related... I played Army fri-sun.. first time back in about a year, and it was out of town.. woohoo.. It wasnt all that bad though. We had gotten a few "new" trucks.. and my shop truck was one of them.. It was a duece and a half that was on its last leg, now its a 5 ton. Though i wish it was a 5 speed instead of auto, but they started doing that so more people could be trained to drive them.. it give us more room for parts and stuff too.. out of the 3 or 4 that we had the shop truck is the best..

On the way to eastern oklahoma fri morning I had one Hmmwv break down. They were all suppose to be fueled thurs so we didnt even think it was out of fuel. The gauge was broken and read full all the time, so the person doing the fueling must have thought it was full. We thought it was the fuel injector pump and called another unit with all the wreckers to pick it up. They go there added fuel and it ran, made us look stupid... on Sat, the same truck blew a fuel line...

The weekend itself wasnt bad, we did Beam Hit, which uses lazers and gives us a chance to practice qualifying. We also did a simulator which was basically a big video game with to LARGE movie screens.. they have different scenerios and such, but we just did the shooting range. We also did convoy training, and what to do when being attacked and looking for IED (improvised explosive devises). All in all it was good training.

On the way home Sun morning, I had 2 hmmwvs go down.. first was having the passenger side front tire wobblings everywhere..this happened about 20 mins after we had left.. we looked and the idler arm was shot.. so we change it in about 15 min and got back on the road, still wobbled but not as bad. It made it home.. The other we came across as we were trying to catch the rest of the unit so the hmmwvs in my group could fuel up. It was one of our ambulance hmmwvs that had blown a heater hose.. easy fix and were back on the road... made it home about an hour behind the others... good weekend but glad to be home...

Re: What did you get done, April fools edition

Friday I went and picked up the Tranny for a rebuilt and I took some measurements and notes on the fuel lines that I have to run and sent them to Pure Choice for some feedback.
Saturday evening I started on the ECM harness and wrote out where all the wires go on the harness
Sunday Evening I started back up on the real harness trying to find out where all the wires that were cut actuall go (it is real fun)
Monday morning I dropped the tranny off to be rebuilt and tonight I plan for round 3 of the harness. Yippie!

I cleaned up about 50 years worth of honey suckle vines and some old barb wire from when there just used to be an open field behind our house. Some of the honey suckle vines were 4" thick.

Jess picked up a new truck last wednesday. Its a 2005 xcab, 4.8l, 19k, leather interior, painted esc. outer door handles, billet bowtie and boltover grill, painted lowrider bedcover w/ carpet underneath, bedrug with stitched bowtie, 20" Centerlines with 275/55/20 and a 2" drop shakle.

Thanks.

We traded it in, the dealer gave us $2000 over the retail value of it.
