Re: roll down back glass

only one i've ever seen is the power slider (horizontal.) i'll bet you could make one of these out of a suburban w/gate power setup. nice touch.

Re: roll down back glass

i used to see it in LMC (but haven't in a while.) maybe try jcwhitney or something. IIR it was around $400-$500. it was nice b/c you didn't have to mod sheet metal. it was a direct window replacement. a little pricey, though. maybe some of the other suppliers that support the board would know where to find one.

Actually that's for a 88-92 model and only the middle window rolls down. The one we're looking for is the whole one piece window rolls down and made for our 73-87.

Re: roll down back glass

The vendor that making the one-piece side windows, experimented with the rear roll down window. From a previous post:

Re: roll down back glass

I may be wrong, but that roll down on ebay looks just like the electric rear windows we had back in the mid 80’s. I forget the name of the company that made them though.
If that’s the case, that company went out of business a long time ago.
The windows worked great as long as the belts didn’t get wet. Once the lifting belts got wet, you had to push the window up by hand.
We also had a really cool rear glass back then that would flexed in the center so you could bow the sides out behind the driver and passenger.
It was called the LaVan Flex Thru. Very cool! I wish I still had one.

Re: roll down back glass

that Classic Industries model is also produced for 67-72. that must be the one i remember. unfortunately, it's not the full roll-down. it's the power slider. but the cool thing is that there is only one sliding panel, as opposed to the original two piece that splits. it's very clean looking, but still not as cool as the full roll-down.

i'd like to see someone try it using the 73-87 power gate from a 'burban. looks very possible.

Re: roll down back glass

My guess is this is an older custom that's still hanging in there. It looks like it was a nice truck at one time, but it's starting to get a little rough around the edges.

The power rear glass is cool...

Re: roll down back glass

Talked with a couple people at work and some commercial customers, found out Lund used to make the roll down rear window kit for about $475, they produced them from 1985 on through to 1998 and then discontinued them, they only bodystyle they produced them for was the 79-87 GM and Chevy Standard cab trucks. The kit was for a powered rear window, included the brackets, motors, rails, seals, window, and all the wiring. The switch was a momentary thing that could be mounted anywhere. The kit was belt driven and they did have complaints about the belt slipping. They were discontinued because of poor sales.
