Shifty, the 69-72 came with the narrower top rail from the factory. I imagine you could box it, but they rolled off the assembly plant floor with narrow top rails to begin with, only the 67-8 has the wide rail. I too had to narrow the top rail to make the mounts fit. BTW I am going to make a set of the tubular mounts myself as a couple of hundred for $20 worth of material seems high to me, anyone interested in a custom built pair?
