Rust in floorpan on both sides of the seam

I posted a thread on this in paint and body but no one responded so I must be breaking new ground here. Anyway my driverside floor pan has heavy rust on both sides of the factory seam. The replacement pan goes above the original seam. Do I need to cut 2 pacthes and seam it back into the support bar like the factory or can I go over with one floor pan patch

Post some pics of the area if you can.

Sounds like your talking about the firewall/floor seam, if so just be aware that these are two separate parts/pieces.

Re: Rust in floorpan on both sides of the seam

VT: Thats exactly where I am talking about. The passenger side didn't have rust on the high side so I bent a lip on the floor pan patch. Used some self tapping screws to suck it up tight to the firewall part of floorpan. After I get everything lined up. I am doing almost a total floorpan replacement. Inner/outer rockers/front floorpan/outer floor/boxes/ part of the kneewall/ Hump and curved part where seat sits is a pickup donor. I will pull the screws and weld holes. They will serve as my spot welds. So I don't know if I need to make 2 patches for structural reasons on the Drivers side. I haven't figured out yet to post pics yet but I have been taking them to put in my restro book
Thanks for the help

As far as posting pics, go to the FAQ Submissions page and look in the Index thread. There will be links to several threads on posting pics.
