Making a little Progress
Spent the day cleaning up the rest of my serpentine setup. I decided to clean all the casting flashes off the pieces and smoot them out and paint the pieces. Mainly I am broke and wanted to get something done, so I did little cheap stuff. Used the Dremel tool and wire brushes to clean the pieces and smooth them out. Painted the aluminum pieces a cast coat color, while the metal pieces were doen in low gloss black. It should look pretty good up against the new motor. While waiting for pieces to dry between coats, I decided to break the engine from it's crate finally and get it ready to put things on and get it and the tranny into the frame. Black and silverish colors is the engine/drivetrain theme.

Re: Making a little Progress
here is the tranny and maybe if I get some things assembled the place won't look like an indoor junkyard

Re: Making a little Progress
Geez Bill. My shop looks like that most of the time, I am ashamed to say. Today I worked on everything but my 69. When you get that engine/tranny together and sitting in there that will look so good you'll want to stay all night and get the cab on there too.

Re: Making a little Progress
When you get done and got it in a show or down at the street cruise and you pop the hood all the time you spent on deburring and aligning and making everything just right will stand out loud and clear. Keep up the good work.

Re: Making a little Progress
I like the wooden cab stand, measurements if you wouldn't mind sharing? I got the tip and flip drawings, but don't have the time to build it and then the truck too, the wood would just be soo much faster. I want to build the tip and flip for my shorty project later on.
Thanks in advance, Randy

Re: Making a little Progress
Bill,
The engine/tranny looks great! Think you'll have it fired up in time to drive to Chickenwings? I'm going probably drive the 48 up there (unless my whole crew decides to go). I just picked up a 69 SWB the other day. If you know where a good side of bed sides are............... Rob

Re: Making a little Progress
Randy
The cab dolly works good. Only thing I would recommend is not make it as tall. Mine is awkward for working inside the cab since it is so high. BTW I stink with wood, so it is not the fanciest thing I wanted the cab about 2 feet off the ground but I mismeasured. I used the rear of the cab for my measurements and didn't realize (at the time) the rear cab mounts are around 5-6" higher than the front. Plus the wheels I used added 7 ". I would recommend make the box only 12" high, then the rest should balance out to be OK.

Re: Making a little Progress
Looks good, I should have done that to mine, but I gotta get my truck going again! I can't stand not driving it! I guess you're used to having a project, but I'm used to having a truck! You gonna drive it to chickenwing's shindig?
