Awhile back, I contacted an engineer with a lift support company.
He looked at my diagram and measurements and responded that they could not make a support to fit the stock mounting points because the closed position is to short to allow enough travel to get to the full open position.

I asked him if it was possible to piggyback 2 short ones to make enough travel . He said it could work, but the engineering would make a short production very expensive.

The supports needed to hold the weight ( their stock on the shelf ) would be about $40( if my memory is correct) each and 4 would be needed. Then try to connect them together and custom fab brackets and hope it all fits between the hatch and topper-

I kinda dropped the idea after speaking with the guy.
