Free 250 engine from 67 Chevelle
I have a 250 6 cylinder motor from a 67 Chevelle which I received with another vehicle I recently purchased. I was told by previous owner he pulled it from his grandfather's car with approximately 66k miles on it. It is disassembled down to the short block. The engine sat for some time and in my opinion should be rebuilt. Very little build up on pistons, virtually no ridge, but two cylinders have some rust from sitting. It turns over freely. The block casting number is 3921968 and the engine code next to the distributor is F0229CO.
Obviously no shipping, come and get it. |

Lol, I just need this thing gone. Figure if someone here can use it might as well give it away. Guess I'm getting impatient in my old age.
Tell ya what, I'll just trade ya for the NOS grill! Last edited by ScottH; 03-10-2006 at 11:45 PM. |

Re: Free 250 engine from 67 Chevelle
put me dead last inline, DEAD LAST right before the scraper
i have no use for it but if it comes down to the junk yard ill take but i think some one would bid on it in the auction i rather see another board member take it rather than me. i get into my cleaning frenzies and it might end up in the scraper later anyway

Re: Free 250 engine from 67 Chevelle
Would you be willing to part it out? I have a 292, and depending on if the parts are compatible, I'll take the timing gear cover and the harmonic balancer (if it hasn't completely rotted out).

Re: Free 250 engine from 67 Chevelle
as far as I know, the main difference between the 250 and 292 is the deck height (as a result of a longer stroke - they share the same bore), so in theory, the harmonic balancer and timing gear cover *should* be the same.
These parts appear to be getting less than trivial to find, so even though I can't say for sure that they will fit, it will be worth risking a small dollar amount to find out. |

oops, that should read "are not exactly trivial to find".
hmm, I wonder why I can't edit my posts... |

Re: Free 250 engine from 67 Chevelle
I'll still take the timing gear cover, but I think I have determined that the 250 did in fact have a different balancer, so I don't think I'll be able to use that in my application.
Thanks for checking it out - I'll PM to you set up shipping. |
