Talking My new old '66 C10 truck

I don't know what convention is here regarding gloating about new projects/acquisitions, but I thought this warranted a new thread. Thanks to those that helped with advice in preparation for this trip. I had to get this truck rolling, steering and braking this weekend so it could be transported from NM to Dallas.

I must say that a lot of my apprehension about the condition of this truck was misguided. I packed a very heavy toolbox and a crate full of stuff "just in case" it was a total rust bucket with everything broken. The body is in pretty good shape with a few rust spots that I'm guessing I can get patch panels for. The only bothersome pieces of rust are between the top of the firewall and the windshield. I washed it off, and water made it into the cab, so I'm thinking one of those rust spots is big enough to leak. The drivers side rocker panel needs to be replaced, and there are about a dozen 4x4 rust patches that'll need attention. As you would expect, the bed wood is rotten. I cleaned it up enough that it wouldn't pose a road hazard during transport back to Dallas.

Things that surprised me:
The wheels had 20psi if air in them after sitting in a driveway for 10 years. I bumped this up to 30 (didn't want to press my luck).
The paint, excluding the rust spots, is in fairly good condition. If I weren't about to cut some big rust holes out of it, I would think some buffing and a clear coat would work fine for it.
The interior of that truck is extremely sparse. I suppose I'm used to passenger cars from that era. There was an extreme lack of knobs and buttons in this truck.

I hope to get cracking at fixing it up as time and dinero permit.

If you didn't have a tool or supply for every possible scenario, something would have gone wrong... Looks very straight and complete. I love fleets with two tone and trim.

Yeah, I was counting on Murphy's Law to be in effect, so I played by those rules and brought everything.

what did you pay for the truck?? I would love to get a hold of something just like that..... and you dont give me hope that you had to travel all the way to new mexico to find something in that condition.

I inherited it from my inlaws. Kind of a mixed gift considering my grandmother-in-law is in poor health. She's almost 92 though, so...no surprise that she's in ill health. She has been wanting me to have it for a few years now, and I'm just now in a position to take it on as a project. We previously got a '64 impala from them that was in similar condition.

BTW, there are pics of the truck posted here
