Rear End Swap
HELLO
I HAVE A 1966 CHEVY WITH A 6 HOLE AXLES IT IS A 12 BOLT, AN I WOULD LIKE TO SWAP THE AXLES FROM 6 HOLE TO 5 HOLE . IS THERE A WAY TO CHANG AXLES ? OR DO YOU DRILL NEW HOLES ? OR WHAT WILL FIT ? THANK YOU ALL FOR YOUR HELP: ![]() |

Allen, there are a couple of ways you can go. Assuming your truck has the trailing arm suspension like most of the Chevys had, some 71-72 Chevy trucks still used the same suspension and should bolt up fairly easily. As for swapping the axles, I think all of the 5 bolt axles are longer, so they won't fit. There are also places that can re-drill your old axles to 5 bolt, but I'm not sure where the nearest one is. Where in La. are you located?

.I installed this "72" rearend basically "R & R"..but if you want it to match the rear and get disc brakes power steering to boot find a old 72-80 (not sure about the 80) and swap all of it out...the second picture is the stuff you will need..
