Use a 72 window regulator in a 69
Is it possible to swap the shorter crank handle shaft into a 72 from a bad regulator in a 69.ie: remove the 69 shaft and instal into the 72 regulator. The 72 reg. that I have is in great shape, but can I make it work in the 69 door?????
Thanks |

Re: Use a 72 window regulator in a 69
I tried changing the shafts from my 72 into a 67 regulator assy I had. It wound up being a big mess. There is not much clearance for the rivits, the spring took a big bite of skin, the pin where the gear mounts to the shaft broke on mine. I wound up buying another regulator assy for $40.00 new. I wish I would have just bought the new regulator assy at first. I spent over half a day trying to make something work and still bought new.
You could just put the 72 regulator in the 69 door without changing the posts. It would just stick out farther than the 69 window crank did.

The truck shops sells new regulators for $25. I bought two of them. They work well.

http://www.truckandcarshop.com
Page 19 in their catalog. They're just another vendor that sells a lot of 67-72 parts.
