"original" seats that recline?

right now im fitting some very comfortable bucket seats that recline into my 2 wheeler. my alternating daily drivers are a '66 stang and my '70 blazer. original seats are awful the backs are near vertical. has anyone here adapted some repro upholstry around some adjustable seats? i intend to cut modern seat frames down to fit inside some cst black vinyl upholstry when my frame off 4x4 reaches that point. the 1st gen blazers have plenty of room to stretch out and they are better than my couch when i have the hatch up and theres a cool breeze blowing through. im adapting an original passenger seat tilt under my new buckets in my '70 driver the only thing i am bothered by is the height of the headrests. i like the idea of an original interior for looks, but for daily use and direct sunlight buckets out of an import are great. maybe a quick release mechanism to enable an easy swap between original seats and the beater seats. what have you guys done on your projects, i know i'm not the only one who reclines in my truck from time to time?

I was going to make my rear seat folding, very easy mod from the
looks of it, I think reclining seats would be very cool if easy to do?

Re: "original" seats that recline?

I swapped in a late 80's Blazer rear folding seat in mine and had it custom upholstered, but have not done anything with the front buckets - they are original. I'm just finishing up my Blazer and have not yet had it out on any "long" drives, but the seats don't seem to feel all that uncomfortable.

its not that they are painfully uncomfortable, but reclining seats!! i know i don't need to tell you the advantages of reclining seats. lets just say i plan to do more than drive in my convertable. its not like theres a gas tank in the way.
im sure i will be able to fabricate something. steel is an awesome material.
the main steps will be;
1) cutting up a donor seat for its reclining mechanism.
2) cutting my blazer buckets up for the frames.
3) welding, engineering, reupholstry
done, no problem

Re: "original" seats that recline?

I have buckets from a 99 tahoe that recline. Work great too for times "other than driving..."
