engine mount for 283

Hey,

On a truck that originally had a 283 in it, would it have come from the factory with that I6 motor mount rivetted to the front?

Re: engine mount for 283

Brian, if I recall correctly 60-62 used the horseshoe style front mount on both the I6 and the V8. 63 up used the side motor mounts.

60-66,

Yup, you're right. Because of different engine lengths, though, the U shaped mount fasted directly to the cross-member on v8s, and to an extension rivetted to the crossmember for I6's.

My question is -- is this extension deleted for factory v8 engines?

Re: engine mount for 283

I'm not sure. I know the bracket you're talking about, my 61 has it being a 235 engine. I've only had one 60 that I believe actually came with a V8, and it's been too long ago to remember that. I have seen a few others, but again, I can't recall if they had that bracket or not. I would think the bracket would be deleted if not used, but stranger things have happened. Maybe someone else with a known original V8 truck could help.
