Blazer Brake Guru's
Been digging into the 73 lately and the boy and I took it for a spin around the neighborhood. Now, keep in mind this has sat for almost 2 years - other the when I drove it home 2 miles a moth ago. First stop I depressed the brakes as I would on any vehicle. and the rear brakes lock up. I mean lock up - foot off the pedal still skidding lock!! Needed to press the brake again to proceed. Went home and checked fluid. It's low in both bowls. Top it up, pump it up a bit and now it is locked all the time.
Any ideas?? I'm gonna b;eed em Saturday. But, what about Vac Boost etc? I'm a pretty good wrench, but when I don't get it - I ask!! Let me hear your ideas. - Dave

I doubt it's the master cylinder or the booster. First I would bleed the brakes and if still locked up I would say it's the proportioning valve. It's what controls how much fluid goes to the rear and the front.

I agree with the previous posters thoughts on the prop valve....how ever please remove the rear drums and see whats up before spending a 100 bux on the prop valve...a fozen park brake cable will do the same thing...and if i member right the rear outlet port on the master has a spring and ball under the flare in the master...a kinda sorta built in residual valve if i member correctly.
Anyways...put her on stands and pull her apart and see whats up before guessing... DW

OK, P.O. DIDN'T use both crushwashers on the caliper banjoes. On the front calipers. So, brakes weren't leaking, but were sucking air. Making the back brakes override.
One new caliper, a complete inspection and "We're Good To Go". Now on to smog and registration . . . the saga continues. Thanks for the ideas, guys. - Dave
