axle swap
someone told me that you can swap axles from a 89 1/2 ton to a 69 1/2 ton.
the reason I want to do this is because I have a set of centerlines that are 5 lug wheels and I have the front spindal set up but I do not know what to do with the rear end. I thought that I would consult the experts Thanks in advance! |

Re: axle swap
This isn't going to completely answer your questions, but for my '69, I stumbled across some 3/4T axles I wanted to swap in. I was told I'd have to move the leaf spring perches outward (IIRC). But other than that, it should.

Re: axle swap
Hey quick fix would be just to drill out your existing axles and brake drums for the lug pattern you desire. Any auto machine shop should be able to this for you. And the price is usually pretty reasonable. That is what I would do, unless for some reason you want to put the 89 diff. in your '69.
or are just wanting to put the axles in??? This would depend on C clips or not some older model Diffs. had the floating axles in them and no c clips to hold the axles in. Most newer model diffs. have the c clips. so they might not work in the older diff. Last edited by BarryB; 07-14-2006 at 02:18 PM. |

Re: axle swap
69 rears are narrower than the 70 1/2 to 80's rearends.
