Need motivation!!!

OK, I haven't touched my 62 4wd burban in months. Last thing I did to it was put the axles in it. But I still need to get new brakes, cylinders, u-bolts, and lines for the rear axle. Need studs too. I have the 400, the flwheel, the trans/case, new hydro clutch stuff, got the vacuum booster and M/C, need to take the old one off, line it up, drill some holes, and hopefully will go on without a mjor ordeal. Have the power steering box and kit. Then I need to drop the t-case and brackets, pull the HO307 and 3-speed and driveshafts. Getting new shafts won't be a big deal, buddy owns a yard. Then on the front I need the spindle bolts/nuts, both inner and outer axle shafts, clean and repack the bearings, and get the nuts for the hub, along with some lockouts. Getting the parts won't be a problem if I can remember them when I go to the j/y. It's at my folks house, and I know they would at least like to see it mobile, so it can move need be. Also need to get a new gastank and straps. When I pulled the 3/4 ton axles out, I had it on jackstands, and somehow it fell. Looked kinda cool, like a slammed burban since it was laying on the frame!!! But when it fell it hit the tank, dented it and broke the homemade straps. Luckily thats all it did. So, is there anyone near me that can kink me in the a$$ and get me motivated?? I could probly drive it this summer, but figure one thing at a time.

Re: Need motivation!!!

I've had similar motivation problems. The key is to find a gearhead near you and help keep each other motivated. I spent the last few hours helping my brother with his truck and in turn he'll help me with mine.

Re: Need motivation!!!

Motivation is a hard thing to accomplish sometimes when it comes to our trucks. Sometimes I just go do little things, other times I go do alot. Never give up the fight. Read litature on our trucks helps me too. I read the parts books for our trucks all the time.

Re: Need motivation!!!

Motivation is is hard to come by. The underdash AC unit in my '66 just took a crap. Right now it's 111 degrees out, too hot for me to want to investigate what happened to it. Ironically if it were cooler out i'd try to find the problem. I'm sure your winters are worse than our summers though.

The only motivation I can give you is that when your '62 is up and running it will be one of the coolest rigs on the road, okay maybe I'm biased. My '66 is in so so shape, but runs real strong and gets more attention than I ever thought it would. I can't gas it up without someone wanting to check it out and talk about it. Yours is even cooler, I love those wrap around windshields!

Good luck-you can do it!

Re: Need motivation!!!

Right now I want to get it to my house, so if I want to work on it, I just have to go outside. It sits at my parents house right now, and tho it isn't that far, it's far enough to make it a pain if you forget something. The whole famn damily is going there this weekend, so maybe I can get something done over the weekend. There is not one truck like this where I am, barely a pickup that style. I thought about selling it, but it's just too cool to get rid of. I was hoping I could sell my truck, then I would have some extra money to put into it. Maybe some pics of burbs, anybody got any???

Re: Need motivation!!!

Here is the only picture I have currently. It was takin when I bought it. Since then I've changed the wheels, exhaust, and had the radiator rebuilt. It's far from perfect but it runs great. I just got a digital camera,as soon as I figure it out I'll post more shots.
