Re: want to lay pinch weld looking for suggestions
Porterbuilt crossmember! I have made my own custom control arms and cut the bottom off the crossmember and the truck laid pinch on 20-22 combo. But I had to make custom control arms....pain in the a$$. The porter unit is the way to go! He has taken care of most of the problems.
Here is my suburban with 1.5" crossmember drop and custom control arms. My crossmember is off the ground 1.5" |

Re: want to lay pinch weld looking for suggestions
I believe the frame still hangs down a bit on these trucks. So, even getting the frame siderails down, I think the body is still bout 1" off the ground.
I know with tubular arms, rack set up, and porterbuilt dropmember, it'll rail the truck. Frame rails will be the lowest part of the truck. While not the cheapest route, IMO, its the easiest, and cleanest way to get the frame rails on the ground. Not to mention, reversable, since it just bolts in place of your stock crossmember. |

The body sits flush with the lower frame. You can always shorten your rubber mounts. The mount is around 1 inch thick or so.

Re: want to lay pinch weld looking for suggestions
Should be close.... take your body mounts out and put in shorter ones and you should be sitting on pinch. I did a 67-72 and layed the frame on the ground and we had to roll the pinch weld over cause it held up the cab!!!!

Re: want to lay pinch weld looking for suggestions
that is the kind of layin the pinch weld i am talking about!!!!
i currently have tubular upper and drop lower a arms with the bags so far it looks like reworking the crossmember and cutting the cab mounts in half will get me very close? that would be about 2 inches of drop? i hate to go with a aftermarket crossmember and use a rack i just put all new power steering steering box,and tie rods ect in the front last month so far great feedback!!!thanks!! for the help i noticed alot of the newer c10s are on here i am curious if the 67-72 are the same height keep the suggestions coming!!! |

Re: want to lay pinch weld looking for suggestions
Here are pics of the wheel well... I had to cut the hood a little bit. You will need to either narrow your frontend or get some serious backspacing on your front wheels to ride low!!!!
