Thumbs down NAPA battery

This is the NAPA orbital type battery that is like an OPTIMA batt. Buy the OPTIMA. My first one lasted 29 mo's and the second one 23 mo's. I only drive my truck once a week but it should last longer with regular use. The good thing is they have a free 24mo replacement. One of my friends has an OPTIMA for 8 yrs in his truck with a high compression 454 driven less than mine and it always cranks. Anyhow they aren't worth the money.

Re: NAPA battery

My old boss bought an Orbital. He had it 3 months and it was toast. I was in a 69 Mach 1 that got driven twice a month. He took it back and went back to die hards. I have an Optima that is 2 years old that I thought I killed because it was in my van that died. Threw it on the charger for an hour and it's worked fine again.

Re: NAPA battery

I have an orbital in My K5 and it USED to be a great battery when I drove my truck every day. Now I only drive it a couple times a month and I have warrantied 3 of the orbitals in the last 12 months.

Re: NAPA battery

If you have a nice truck, and don't want it eatin up with acid, you have to run some kind of Optima type battery. I keep a small battery "exerciser" (not charger) in my Blazer when it sits over a week. This keeps it up and seems to last for years. Remember, they do not like to be fully discharged...sometimes they won't come back.

Yea I made that mistake. Luckily after a good charge, my yellow top is fine

Re: NAPA battery

The Optima's carry a 3-year replacement, with 3-year pro-rate. They have a total warranty of 6-years.

We had one die in the car after about 1.5 years. Went to Sears and got a brand new one for free. Not sure exactly how old the one in my truck is, but I would say 5-6 years old. Never had a problem with it.

Re: NAPA battery

I had a NAPA orbital type in my Blazer for about 6 years and I drove it erveryday and never had a problem until one day I went to crank it and dead silence. That was because some SOB stole the battery.
