Sitting on top of the world! (new seats installed)
So I'm making some headway on my interior. I have the dash all in, the carpet, Captains seats, and center console. I am amazed at how wonderful they are. Feels like I’m sitting so much higher than what I was. I’m sure parts of it are that the old seat was like 33 years old, and I sat in a big hole. The other thing is, I’m stoked at how much quieter the interior is. The new carpet and pad sure makes a world of difference. Too cool, I hope to have the rest all in by the end of the weekend. Well, the doors and the new steering wheel that is. Then the interior will be close to complete.
On to the pics. Before After Last edited by oldually; 09-08-2006 at 07:28 PM. |

Re: Sitting on top of the world! (new seats installed)
yea, I'm lovin it! The seats are out of the 91 burban. so is the carpet, dash pad, and burl walnut bezel. I have matcing door panels to go on, well, the whole door is going on, I have some rust on mine, and the burban is full power. fun to wire up, but when done, it's gona be a comfy truck! to answer your last que... they wen't exactly a bolt in. the back rails had to be bent up to fit the truck pan, but the outside rail on each seat bolted where the bench was bolted. the inner rail, well, there is nothing to attach it to in the truck, and it's just sitting on a block of wood. I did have to drill a new hole for the back side... but that wasn't a big deal. same thing for the console. 4 new holes, and screw in.

Very nice!. I'm going the same way with my 70. Mine came out of a 97 C1500, with a console from a late 70's Blazer.

Re: Sitting on top of the world! (new seats installed)
The dash pad was probably the easiest part to do. All you have to do is unscrew the dash bezel, and there are 4 screws on the front of the bottom lip of the pad on the passenger side, and one screw on the side of the pad on the side of the dash next to the passenger door. When they are all out, the dash pad just pops off. It’s just held on by clips at the front. The one thing I have to note, is the gage bezel is different for the 84’s and up. So I had to do a little work with my Dremmel to get it to fit right. I’m using the bottom corner from my old bezel that has both the wiper, and the headlights so it looks good.
I looked at the replacement pads, and you have to be careful. There are a lot that just go over the pad, and aren’t replacements. I got a hell of a deal on the burbon that I bought, so I didn’t have to deal with getting it all piece by piece. Norm |

They are not in yet, but here is a picture of when I was trial fitting the seats.

Re: Sitting on top of the world! (new seats installed)
Not much. Pretty much like on your model. The outer front holes matched up, drilled new rear holes and inner fron hole. Made/making some reinforcement plates for the new mounting holes. Pretty easy really. They sit a tad higher in my truck than stock, but I like it that way.

Norm, I think you can use the floor tabs that are welded to the Suburban floor on your dually.
