newbee first post

hey all Im from Connecticut im working on a 47 3100
here's some pics

Im going to try and put a 454 with a turbo 400 tranny
something a little different then I've seen on most forums.

Does anyone know what rearends work well in these trucks
I have heard that a 89 trans-am rear works good.
are there any other rear ends the work as well?

Also are the engines from these old truck worth anything
the yellow one in the pics is from this truck its completly rebuilt and has no miles
the guy I bought this truck from spent about 4800.00 on it then his wife got pissed and made in sell everything.

the blue engine id from a 40 coupe it was rebuilt in 78 and has about 30000 on it
with a 3 speed tranny attached.

well anyway nice to meet all of you!!!!!!

Welcome from Texas.

Here's a link to the truck that I am helping my dad with, it's a 52 that we are putting a big block in. Good luck with your project and let us know if there is anything you need help with.

Welcome to the forums Gman!
I'm sure someone will have some more info on the rears that will work.
If not, feel free to post another thread with that as the topic. That may receive more hits with answers.

Re: newbee first post

89 is going to be too wide...axle needs to be 58-60 inches wide....and the 89 is 62( I think). I have a '68 camaro rear end in my truck...and its perfect width...

Re: newbee first post

IIRC the Nova rearend is just the right width to put under a 47-54 Chevy truck.
