Pickin this up! '85 Chevy K5
I WIN!!! Found a killer deal on a K5 Blazer near my base, well not really that close, 3 hours away, but I am gigglin' like a schoolgirl about these southern trucks not having any rust! It rules! Both 10b front and rear, 700r and not sure which transfer case. All 4 rebuilt with less than 10,000 miles on it. It has a Skyjacker 4" lift, blocks in rear with braided brake lines. worn 35" tires. GREAT BODY! The bad. 3 years ago, yes 3, guy started replacing the 350 with a 305 he had, but he never finished changing it out. I tried to turn the motor, it's locked. Maybe possible to unfreeze it, but if not I'll just get another shortblock. It has a brand new Edelbrock Performer intake and a rebuilt Qjet. Has lots of extra parts. So when I go to put it back together it should go easily. I just gotta figure out how to get it from there to here, about 160 miles away, it's located in Rougemont, NC, Im at New River, NC. I think I'm just gonna get a uhaul to tow it. ... Sorry about the long post. Here are some pictures. oh yea. All of that for $500

Even if it didn't have an engine at all that is still a great score for $500.

Looks like those tires are worth more than what you paid for the whole thing.

Re: Pickin this up! '85 Chevy K5
My major obstacle now is just getting the truck from Timberlake to Jacksonville, I've thought about just towbarring it behind my SWB but that'd be a long drive. Still might do it tho. Anyone know if a towbar will fit this width frame? I'm gonna try to unfreeze the smallblock, if not, I'll be scouring the parts yard for a replacement.

If the spoiler is stock (and it looks like it is) why get rid of it? Keeps the back glass cleaner than it would be without.
Crank, if you decide you don't want the spoiler you can send it my way. But what I would REALLY like is that roof rack! The closest I've found to one was on my parts Blazer that had been rolled over. And the rack took the brunt of the roll?

Re: Pickin this up! '85 Chevy K5
wow great score.
For the motor i would try a sqirt of ATF in each cylander. That is what we used to do in my auto class when i was in high school worked well we sould squrt it in a few days in advace let it sit then break it free with a large breaker bar on the cran bolt. Good luck and why some one would go from 350 to 305 is behond me unless that is what is laying around. uhaul will not rent you a trailer for that application because they will say your SWB is to small to handle it. But if the wheel base will fit one of there trailers then tell them your towing a 1956 willys pick up and need one of the newer truck and van trailers to acomidate the leangth. it should tow no problem but they won't rent it to you if you tell them your pulling a full size blazer. a tow bar may work but make sure it bolts to the frame. if a trailer can be done it is the way to go

Re: Pickin this up! '85 Chevy K5
Kevinr1970, keep PMing me soon to bug me to take it off, I'll fill the damn holes with silicone and ship the spoiler and rack to ya. Ugly if you ask me.
I'm gonna try some oil in the crankcase and some ATF in the cylinders and see if I can get it broke loose, a hot battery, some other odds and ends and hopefully I can get it roadworthy quickly. Thanks guys Brandon |

Re: Pickin this up! '85 Chevy K5
Awesome score....
If the motor was fresh when installed then try some penetrating oil or Marvels in the cylinders and let is set a couple of days. Likely the cylinders are hopefully just rust glazed since they should have been oiled when assembled. Be easy on freeing it so you don't break a ring. At worse you should have to pull and hone then reassemble.
