Re: 2wd lift?

When I was running heavy duty springs on my truck, purchased from my local auto parts store, it sat level. I have posted the part number here in several similar threads over the years. You can probably find it if you do a search.

Re: 2wd lift?

33's fit under my stock 70 2wd, but they rubbed when I turned the wheel sharply.

Re: 2wd lift?

hmm so then for me to fit 33's id prolly have to do a lil body lift or something fo rit not to rub? or does it rub on the corer of the inside the wheel wells? cuz i can cut the wheel wells a hair to it isnt noticeable... so i have some springs off a 88 blazer and i was wondering those springs r longer than mine think i could jus throw thos eunder my truck and it would lift the front end enough?

Re: 2wd lift?

I'd say you'd probably have to do a body lift or some fender trimming in the front and rear for 33's not to rub. I bought some 2 inch lift coils off e-bay about two years ago. I'm running 31's, and i have almost 7 inches from the top of the tire to the wheel well, but only 3.5 at the front and rear of the well. The most lift you're going to get from coil springs is about 2 inches. That's about all the suspension will give. I put mine in and the suspension sets pretty much at full droop. It rides like a tank too.

Re: 2wd lift?

HERE I COME TO SAVE THE DAY!!!

At anyrate, here is the usual response I give to these questions.. if that doesn't answer your questions.. ask away. Not that I know everything, but if I dont someone here most likely will. Great group of knowledgeable people.

Coils will lift your truck but you will wear ball joints and tie rods faster as it puts them at an steeper angle.. also you will have little to NO droop in the suspension..

body lifts are ok, but have alot of problems associated.. adjust your steering, electrical connections, lift bumpers... etc... i prefer to stay away from body lifts...

there are advertised lifts, but they are just coils, Fabtechs kit is coils and possibly tubular control arms.. (if the ball joint mounting area is degreed then they wont wear as much)... However.. NOBODY currently sells a lift spindle, which would be the best way to go to keep proper geometery.. AIM ( )use to sell them, but quit due to little interest..

with some work you could swap ball joints (and/or control arms, i am not sure what is involved with this as i havent gotten that far yet) you could use 88-98 lift spindles...

As far as 35" tires, you could probably get away with using 2" lift coils and a 3" body lift. Only way to get that much lift with these trucks. At this point I would rather run fiberglass fenders or the next step to have a fully custom front suspension made with coil overs. Good luck and post up pics when you finish the lift..

I ran HD coils on the front and stocks springs on the back of my 82 and ran 32" tires with only minor rubbing at the very top fender lip that I rolled and then some on the inner fender but since its smooth I wasnt too worried. 33"s should fit fine in the back without trimming. With 32"s I had less than 2 fingers width between the tire and lower fender at its closest point....this was at a dead stop so this doesnt account for movement, but like I said, I rubbed at the very top of the fenders.. not at the lower edges.. 33"s would probably rub at both.

Re: 2wd lift?

The parking lot is slopped, but the truck sits level front to rear.
